For all you master chefs out there?!

Question: What would I call this? a very good friend of mine recommended that I cook a large pan of pasta at home, let it go cold, add tuna, tomatos, cucumber, onioins and grated carrots. Would you say it's easy to make and prepare? bearing in mind I'm a disaster in the kitchen ^_^. She says it's cheap, healthy and very filling, is there anything else I should or could add to it?I appreciate your help.

Thank you.

Thank you.

After cooking, drain the pasta, put it and all those ingredients, except the cucumbers, into a saucepan, pour in a bottle of prego spaghetti sauce, stir, and heat over low heat until the sauce is warm or put mixture in microwave dish for about 2 minutes to heat through. Serve the cucumbers on the side with a green salad. The grated carrots would add just enough sweetness to cut the acidity of the tomatoes. Even if you are a disaster in the kitchen you would have something akin to Pasta Putanesca--the whore's pasta, which was made in the old days to feed hungry visitors using whatever was left in the kitchen at the end of the night. A real dish for which you pay about $15 in a restaurant. It was the first meal my daughter taught herself just because she had spaghetti and veggies in her fridge and a bottle of Prego. It is now her specialty and she gets a lot fancier with the ingredients, sauce and spices. She uses different pastas, too, but likes angel hair the best. Tastes great! Good luck and remember to follow package directions for cooking the pasta until you get good at it.

It sounds lovely. I buy something similar from the supermarket for a ridiculous price.

You could try adding a little low fat mayo or some other sauce as it could be a little dry without.

I wouldn't make a large pan unless you have a big family, it doesn't get better with age. Add diced celery to that and leave out the tomatoes. Put in some sliced olives (if you like) and add mayonnaise. A very nice meal but intended more for summer eating than winter as it is served cold.

Sounds absolutely horrible - it needs dressing of some kind.
(cool your pasta quickly in cold water or it will over cook in it's own heat and go soggy)

Sounds totally disgusting. Order a pizza.

Use Penne pasta cook it for 12mins in RAPIDLY boiling salted water- don`t just "let it go cold" - stand the pan in your sink & turn on the cold tap to refresh the pasta (if you let it just go cold it will clog together & become starchy.) Personally I would omit the carrots & add sliced peppers use a tin of chopped tomatoes mix all your ingredients together, top with grated cheese & bake in a moderate oven for approx 40-45mins. Serve with a tossed salad.

a pasta salad if you like add Italian dressing. and drain the pasta and rinse in cold water so it will not be sticky.i add garlic salt and pepper to mine and a red or yellow pepper diced up and it is good i use spiral pasta the multi colored one. very yummy!

What you have there is a basic cold pasta salad receipe. There are many ingredients that you could add, it's all up to your imagination.
The only thing that is obviously missing from the receipe is a dressing. A simple oil and vinegar dressing (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic) would enhance the dish nicely and make it less dry.
If you like your meat you could add chicken breast, or italian sausage.

Leave out cucumber and carrot

Maybe add come chopped celery....walnuts...grapes...
raisins...
cranberries...
and your favorite dressing.
I like a low-cal italian dressing....but I also add sweetener to it for a sweeter dressing (which I like).

It sounds great but is missing the dressing.

You could make a creamy sauce with mayo and milk.

I'd also add a little seasoning like a very little salt and a bit of pepper.

sounds just like a pasta salad, and you need to add a dressing or else it will be dry and tasteless. try mixing lemon juice, olive oil, and vinegar, or just stir through some basil pesto. don't forget to check for seasonging because that be the deciding factor

best of luck :)
