What is a good meal to make for a first date?!

Question: This is so good and super easy. It will definately impress.

Quick Chicken Parmesan

4 Boneless Chicken Breasts, pounded flat
1 jar Spaghetti Sauce (I use Prego mushroom and garlic)
3 oz. Mozzarella Cheese, grated
2 cups Italian Bread Crumbs
2 oz. Parmesan Cheese
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1 egg, plus 1 tbs water, slightly beaten

Mix Italian breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and garlic salt together in bowl. Beat 1 egg in another bowl, 1 tbs water and a dash of garlic salt. Dip chicken in egg, then in crumbs and fry in oil until brown on each side (10 – 15 min each side). Pour spaghetti sauce over chicken and sprinkle with cheese, cover so cheese melts and serve. Makes 4 servings.

Serving Suggestions:

I serve this with Fettuccini Alfredo and garlic bread.

Creamy Fettuccini Alfredo

1 – 8 oz. Package Philly Cream Cheese (I use the light version – 1/3 less fat), cubed
? cup (3 oz.) fresh grated Parmesan cheese (I like De Giorno, don’t use Kraft)
? cup margarine (I use I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Light)
? cup milk (I use 1% or 2% low fat)
8 oz. fettuccini, cooked, drained (I use the fresh Contadina low fat one)

In large saucepan, combine cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, margarine and milk.
Stir over low heat until smooth. Add to drained fettuccini and toss lightly. Sprinkle with fresh Parmesan cheese if desired. Makes 4 servings.

Curried Chicken.
Ingredients:
4 chicken breast fillets, diced
2 onions, chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
3 tablespoons cooking oil
1/2 ounce medium curry powder (more if you prefer it hotter)
14 ounces can evaporated milk
salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Cook the chopped onions and garlic in the oil for a few minutes, allowing them to colour slightly. Add the curry powder and continue to cook for a few minutes. Season the diced chicken breast with salt and pepper and add to the curried onions. Turn in the pan until completely sealed on all sides. Add the evaporated milk and bring to a simmer. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking. Check for seasoning and your curry is ready. To lift the finished dish, sprinkle with some chopped fresh coriander.

Omit the Cuury if that isn't you, and use mixed herbs instead.

Unless you know this person, I'd keep the "first date" something simple and less intimate than a meal at home! Perhaps his/her favorite restaurant? Movie? Theatre? Save the homecooked meal for your second or third date.

First date I would definately ask them what they like or if they have any preferences.
If you are cooking for them you really want to know if there is anything they just love or not so much.

First thing I thought of is what not to have on a first date. Onions, garlic, beans lol are a no-no.

I would also avoid really sloppy meals and finger foods.

A nice pasta of some sort would be nice served with bread or salad.

A fillet of fish served with rice and another veggie like broccoli would also be good.

You are cooking for your first date????? Well, if your a guy that couldn't be too bad, but I donno sounds a little strange to me, more like a third date kinda thing.

I shouldn't speak though cause the second day I ever knew my hubby, I made him spaghetti and meatballs. To this day he swears that's why he married me.

So I say, make your specialty, whatever you think you make the best, and ask your date what they like the best. Don't try to over impress, but make SURE its not boring. It has to be something worth not going to a restaurant for, is it better than restaurant? If so, shoot for it.

Make something real simple, where you don't have to do a lot of cooking . Your'e probably gonna be nervous anyway, so how about spaghetti, garlic bread and a salad. I know spaghetti can be messy, but it's going to be anyway whether you are on your first date or you have been married for 20 yrs. What about hamburgers and french fries? Baked chicken, corn on the cob, salad, and maybe ice cream for dessert? Hope I was helpful. If not maybe somebody else will be.

I'll just go by the first meal I prepared for my boyfriend, who actually took pictures of it and devoured it!

Wine-Marinated Salmon, Mushroom and Walnut Wild Rice, Orange-Avocado Salad and individual Chocolate Souffles

The rice is cooking along so you can work with the salmon without distraction. The salad has few ingredients. The souffles are super-simple and I made them while he looked on, super-impressed. They were my first souffles, and were a very sexy dessert. If you don't want to be bothered, you can just make chocolate-covered strawberries earlier in the day.

Salmon: in large zip-top bag, add 1/2 cup white wine, an spritz of fresh lemon juice, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper and 1 tsp crushed dried rosemary. Add fresh salmon fillets and marinade 30 minutes, sloshing the bag around halfway. Heat a skillet to medium/medium-high (it doesn't take a lot of heat to sear these guys!) and blot some moisture from the fish with paper towel. Add some olive oil to the pan, sear the fish ~6 min on each side or to desired doneness.

For the rice, get real wild rice, not the mix (unless you want it to be easier, then you can get any mushroom rice). Saute 1/2 cup diced onion, 1 can of sliced mushrooms, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts in butter/olive oil. Add the liquid (chicken broth or water) for 2 serving of rice, salt and pepper and bring it to a boil. Add 2-servings worth of rice. Cook according to directions.

Pile the rice on 1 plate, top with fillets and sprinkle with parsley! :)

Salad: baby greens + orange segments + avocado slices. Make a dressing with orange juice, olive oil, salt and pepper.

Below is the link to the souffles!

Hope this helps!

Anything Italian

Are you a guy or a girl? If you're a guy, take her out. If you're a girl, tell him what your favourite restaurant is. It can be just a hamburger and fries but no one should cook on a first date.

I personally think it's better to go to a restaurant for a first date. If things don't click, you can pay the tab and both go on with your live. It also feels a lot more comfortable if you don't know each other that well yet. I would save the home-cooked meal for the 2nd or 3rd date at least.

surf and turf
good to foodnetwork.com for some amazing recipes from bobby flay!

I would never cook on a first date, unless you are a guy.

if you're a girl do not cook for the first date, it will set the tone for the relationship that you don't want to go out to eat and plus it will be better to be in a public place if you don't know this guy yet (there are some crazies out there)

but if you're a guy it would be incredibly romantic to make dinner for a first date, most women are so impressed with a guy who can cook (i know i would be) what ever you make 1 make sure she will like it, make sure she eats that kind of meat or fish or what ever 2 make sure it's good even if it's the most simple thing all that matters is you made the effort and it tasted good

good luck

Hmmm...well, the first meal I ever cooked for my hubby, many years ago before he was my hubby, was Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Since he was single, not a cook himself, and had been living on frozen dinners, I think he appreciated it very much and may be the reason we are married today!

So, be careful! You may end up married & having to make the same meal over & over again! ;-)
