What are other ways to make the meat tender? i tried using meat tenderizer but it doesn't do much help.?!
Answers: I'm not sure what exactly you are wanting to cook but if you want to boil most meat ,just brown it,add water at least covering the meat in the skillet. Then you bring to a boil and then turn heat down to a simmer and cook for an hour or until tender. If I'm making roast beef I boil it for a long time, the longer the more tender it becomes. Add seasoning to taste.
cook in crock pot
it depends on the cut you are trying to tenderize. mainly the cooking method will do the trick.
Marinate it overnight. Try using something with orange juice or marinade bottlesat the grocery store.
I wish I knew what kind of meat you have.
I could help you learn how to choose tender meat ( marbling etc etc).
But there is a tool for this.
Look up "Norpro"
and look at the meat tenderizing gadgets.
I'll look for the best one and send the link( if I can find it).
Cooking it in liquid slowly, over low heat, helps. That's the basis of stew, which uses the toughest cuts.
Another method is to beat it with a flat surface like a meat "hammer" (I have no idea what they're really called), either smooth or with shallow points, which both tenderizes and makes the cut of meat thinner, making the toughness less noticeable. I've done this with a rubber mallet from my husband's tools (wrapped in Saran Wrap) and it worked great.
Get a heavy cutting board, and one of those mallets with the pointy face. BANG! on it a while. Doesn't take that much effort. (Only way to eat abalone, seriously they are tough.)
Or slow cooking can do it. As long as you keep it moist. Like in a pan with a lid, and some liquid, in the oven. At least a couple hours. Or all day for really tender roast.
The meat tenderizer does work, but you need to let it marinate for a couple hours or overnight. Rub it on and place in refrigerator.
They have a hammer type meat tenderizer that you pound the meat with, it has points on it. Sometimes beef has to be cooked slowly. Like flank steak should be a little pink, cooking to much makes it tough. Check what kind of meat your cooking and your butcher can give you some Ideas. I like beating it with the hammer type tenderizer.
