add half the water asked for and add sour cream in place of it or

use butter or crisco in place of oil or

beat the eggs till they are light and fluffy and add to cake mix or

add soda or juice or even champagne to mix instead of water.

Sour cream makes a really moist cake

I always use the water. But I also add an extra bit of oil and an extra box of pudding. I have not added an extra egg either.

I love putting buttermilk in my cakes. It makes them nice and moist but not too light.
