Frozen egg problem..?!


Question: I have a carton of eggs in the fridge but they all froze.. I REALLY need an egg and I don't want to go to the store so if I put an egg in hot water to "thaw it out" would it be ok to use in a funnel cake mix?!

You can easily thaw this product as a part of cooking. They honestly don't take long to thaw under running, seventy degree water, while completely submerged. If you use hot water it will begin to cook the product.

I'm not really sure to be honest. I don't think they'd make a good fried egg cuz it would change the white. But if it is going to be in a batter I would think it would be okay. I'd like the answer to this one myself.

Once eggs freeze, they just don't work right. Keep a thermometer in your refrigerator to monitor the temperature, and keep eggs away from the back and bottom of the unit. The door is where egg keepers were installed in many refrigerators because it is the warmest place and less likely to freeze.

In Germany, people didn't even refrigerate their eggs, but that is not recommended.

Shell eggs should not be frozen. If an egg accidentally freezes and the shell cracked during freezing, discard the egg. Keep an uncracked egg frozen until needed, then thaw in the refrigerator. It can be hard cooked successfully but other uses may be limited. That's because freezing causes the yolk to become thick and syrupy so it will not flow like an unfrozen yolk or blend very well with the egg white or other ingredients.
