Cooking potatoes and corn on the grill?!
Answers: I am attempting something I have never done. Cooking pork chops, cob corn, potatoes on a propane grill. the corn I found in the freezer, should I thaw them before? My plan was to wrap the potatoes in foil, start them, an hour or so later put the corn in tin foil , start them, then cook the pork chops.
that should work. you should brine your pork chops before you grill them. it will make them super tender and juicy. mix 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of salt, few peppercorns and whatever spices you like in to about 2 quarts of water. put the pork chops in the mix amd let them soak for an hour or 2. it makes a HUGE difference. i'd also leave the corn in the husks to cook.
hmm lol never heard of that but try it out! never know...sounds like it might be good
Thaw first and continue like you stated. Everything should get done around same time
I think that is the right way to do it. That is the way we do it. It works.
The potatoes will be great.
We grill potatoes and corn frequently, but we use a charcoal grill. We put the potatoes on first wrapped in foil, and place them in the indirect heat. Same with the corn. Depending on the size of your potatoes and the temp of your grill, they should only take an hour to cook. I usually put the corn on after about 30 minutes.
Boil the potatoes for 30 minutes prior to grilling. Wrap in foil or place directly on grill and rotate every 10 minutes. This will cut cooking time down and you won't waste as much fuel! Mist corn with water prior to wrapping in foil, this gives in room to steam-cook. When Fresh Corn is in season, remove the silk, rewrap w/ the outer leaves & secure. Raost on grill for 20 minutes, then slather with butter & herbs & enjoy!
Sounds like a plan. Thaw and wrap the corn in foil, too, with butter, salt & papper.
Thaw first. It should be good !! I add asome butter to the potatoes in the foil before starting. Strip back the husks, remove the silk, & spread with butter, then pull the husks back up..
your plan sounds perfect. Thaw the corn first, and wrap some butter with them in the foil. (yum). Overall, your plan sounds well thought it, and I think it should all turn out great. :) (p.s. everything should be thawed out before you put it on the grill).
Sounds good! I usually grill corn in the husks (just throw them on the grill as-is), but wrapping them in foil is fine if the husks have already been removed.
Whole potatoes will take a while to cook. I slice them (~1/4" thick), toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and grill them for about 8-10 minutes per side on a sheet of foil.
