How do you make pork chops in a crock pot ?!


Question: I know done right the meat is very tender . I want to make them in a tomato sauce and have them with pasta later , do I need to cook them first ? , are there other ingrediates I should toss in ? ,what temperature do I set them at and for how long ?. Thanks so much for your help...

S&P your chops, maybe add a little garlic powder, too.

Cut an onion into rings, separate, and put at the bottom of the slow cooker. Top w/ chops, a can of diced tomatoes w/ juice, a bay leaf, and a pinch of dry thyme. Set on LOW and cook covered, 6-8 hours.

Just put them in raw with the tomato sauce and your favorite seasoning and slow cook per your cookers directions.

I would brown them in a pan before putting them in the slow cooker. Cooking time will depend on how thick they are and if they have a bone or not. I would consult your slow cooker manual for cooking times and temperatures.

Pork Chops in Tomato Sauce

INGREDIENTS
1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon butter or stick margarine
4 bone-in pork loin chops, trimmed
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon pepper

DIRECTIONS
In a large nonstick skillet, saute onion and garlic in butter until tender. add pork chops; brown on both sides. In a small bowl, combine the tomato sauce, wine or broth, oregano and pepper; pour over chops. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until tender.
