What are some good herbs or spices i can use? and what do they taste good on?!


Question: Its all down to personal tastes, but my favorite combinations are:

Rosemary - Lamb
Sage - Pork, bacon, pancetta, veal
Parsely - Chicken, Beef, Fish
Mint - Fish, Lamb
Coriander - Pork, clams, mussels, squid, Salsas and salad
Thyme - Chicken, Pork, Stuffings and croutons
Basil - Veal, Salmon, Trout, Tomatoes

The spices that go with almost everything, besides salt and pepper, are garlic, oregano, basil, and chili powder. They're the first ones I buy for a start-up kitchen. Supplement with lemon juice, soy sauce, cumin, marjoram, or ginger, and you can cook a different main course every night.
