Can you over cook a hard boiled egg?!

Question: Yes, and would you believe they can explode? I left the pot unattended and forgot about it. When I went back into the kitchen the pot was smoking and there was egg everywhere.

You can end up with a grey ring around the yolk, but it doesn't change the taste...it just doesn't look as nice.

Yes. The the inside will eventually turn tough and rubbery.

Yes, I personally like eggs alot so if someone were to overcook and wastes one i would be very angry at them.

nope i'm pretty sure you can't. but you can undercook them.

Absolutely - most people usually do! If your HB egg includes a ring of green around the yolk then they're over-done.

Cheers

Most certainly! When you see a green ring around the yolk, it's been ovrecooked.

Here's how to make excellent boiled eggs!

Perfectly Boiled Eggs

1 dozen large eggs
Water to cover
Pinch salt

Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Season with a pinch of salt. Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cover with a lid. Allow the eggs to sit for 12 minutes. Drain and cool the eggs for 2 minutes in ice water. Drain and peel the eggs.

Note: Eggs that are a couple of weeks old or older peel easier than very fresh eggs.

why would u add salt to season egg shells that you will just peel off?
