Can anyone give me an authentic recipe for chicken Parmesan?!

Question: This is the only Italian dish my husband will eat and I want to surprise with or should I say show him I really can cook! Thanks

INGREDIENTS:
1/4 cup olive oil
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
4 boneless chicken breast thinly sliced
2 cups of your favorite Marinara sauce
16 slices mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon salt
8 ounces spaghetti or linguine

--------------------------------------...

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Heat oil in a large (12-inch) skillet over medium-low heat. Beat egg and 1/4 teaspoon of salt in a shallow dish. Mix bread crumbs, basil and pepper in another shallow dish. Dip both sides of each breast in egg mixture, then into bread crumb mixture to coat. Set on a platter.
Increase heat to medium-high. When oil starts to shimmer, add chicken and saute, until golden brown, 5 to 6 minutes on each side.
Pour marinara sauce into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place chicken in dish and top each with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake until cheese completely melts and browns, about 20 minutes.
Bring 2 quarts of water and 1 tablespoon of salt to boil in a large pot. Add pasta, use package times as a guide, and boil until just tender. Drain, cover and set aside till chicken is ready.
Transfer a portion of pasta to each plate. Place sauce and chicken on top of pasta and serve

this is really simple even i can do it!!!:
take chicken breast, like the frozen ones you can get from like costco or anwhere... butterfly it into smaller sizes, then wash it, dip it in flour, then do an egg wash (i just use egg beaters) and cover it in bread crumbs.. i use the kind from a container, the italian one.
then put oil in a frying pan (i use olive oil), get it nice and hot... then put your breaded chicken in there for two minutes on each side. then put it on a cookie sheet, and add shredded mozzerella cheese ( put alot on even if it looks like way too much!) then just bake it until the cheese is golden brown.
then just serve it with your favorite pasta and sauce and you have a delicous meal!!!!

There are SOOO many different "authentic" recipes out there, the only way to really get what you want is to check multiple recipes and choose which sounds best to you... My personal favorite sites for cool recipes are:

epicurious.com

recipezaar.com

hungrymonster.com

Of course, there are massive amounts of recipe sites out there, but these are my favorites, and I have never gone wrong with any of them!

For the record, smdiner's recipe looks really good! I would add about 1/2 tsp of thyme, though, and I'd dust it with more parmesan cheese before serving...

Chicken Parmigiana.
