Does strawberry pie usually have a top crust?!
Answers: I'm making a strawberry pie for the first time and I was looking online for a recipe and it seems most of them don't have a top crust unless it's strawberry rhubarb pie...Is that normal? I've never made one... Help please! :)
No it doesn't. Its because you bake the shell, then add the strawberries and glaze. If you then baked it, the glaze would be too runny. Trust me, I tried it when I first started baking and it was awful.
no, they don't use a top crust on them because the glaze is the top
yes it dose my mum makes it all the time
strawberry pie just has whipped topping on its top
No but sometimes
It just depends on how you want it. I have never made it, but I have seen Strawberry pie with the top on, but always make sure you slit the top if using in order for the steam to escape.
The one I make does.. I don't do the jelly/glaze version of it, I just cut my strawberries in half or more if they are too big, put a little bit of sugar on top of the fruits, Put a crust on top and bake it.
some times, i have seen with or with out a crust---i like the ones with a crust----major important fact--make sure your strawberry's are sweet-----i have ate many a pie and the berry were bitter---that ruins the idea of a good pie---i think you can place your strawberrys in the frigde over night with sugar on top of them in a bowl to add some sweetness-but the pictures on line do show no crust-----i would'nt worry about that if you want acrust put it on---just poke some fork holes in the crust so steam can get out---i have seen apple pies the same way---some with crust and some without---try typing in strawberry pies with a top crust see what comes up---
for hot pie.............yes
for cold pie..........no....you use a glaze
Strawberry pies are usually topless or have a lattice top crust(I'm guessing this is because strawberries are pretty) but you can use a top crust if you want. Be sure to vent well.
