Chefs, and home cooks, what was the first dish you made, and may I have the recipe?!

Question: Chefs, and home cooks, what was the first dish you made, and may I have the recipe!?
I love cooking, thanks to Mom, who worked, so had me sometimes cook for the family, at my tender age of 7!. How old were you when you started to cook!?
I didn't know what to do when Mom called me from work, and asked if I'd cook supper!.!.!.I tried taco's 1st, but burnt the tortillias, so made this instead!.!.!.My first casserole:
1/2 LB Hamburger meat/browned
1 carrot/chopped
1/2 an onion/chopped
1 stalk of celery/chopped
1 tomato/chopped
1/2 a block of cheddar cheese/grated

I mixed it all together in a bowl, and put it in my mother's cassarole dish, and baked it at 350 degrees for 40 minutes!.

Mom, when she got home, looked at me funny, when she saw it, but loved it after eating it, and looked at me in surprise, then!

She has never failed to ask me to cook for her since! LOL, aint life and cooking great!?

Please share your 1st experience with cooking, and your recipe with me, please!?

Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your mother is a smart person, she encouraged you to believe that you could cook instead of discouraging you!.

I was 8 and I made scrambled eggs!. My parents had a chicken farm, so I figured if it didn't come out right, I had more eggs to try with!. I did it the way I had seen my Mom do it!. I mixed up the eggs with a fork, added a bit of milk and some Tabasco, put some butter in the frypan and poured the eggs in when the butter was melted!. Waited a few moments and gently stirred them until they were cooked through but still soft!. I was even allowed to use the electric toaster for the first time that day!. I thought I was all grown up!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

my first time cooking was at the age of 12 and i cooked fried chicken wings!. yes, i'm a southerner so it's got to be fried!.

3 pounds of chicken wings
3 tablespoons seasoned salt
3 tablespoons garlic powder
(if you like spicy chicken add 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper)
2 cups flour
1 bottle of (fresh) canola or vegetable oil

season the chicken with the seasonings!.
in a ziploc bag put in the flour!.
drop each wing in the bag of flour and shake it up to evenly coat!.
place all the coated chicken on a cookie sheet and set it in the fridge for an hour or so!.
in a large pot, fill it with cooking oil and set it on medium high heat until the oil is HOT!.
carefully drop the wings one by one in the hot oil!.
you may want to turn the chicken once halfway through the cooking process!. the chicken is done when they are a nice deep brown color and float to the top of the pot!.
drain the chicken on paper towels and let them cool before eating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was probably about the same age, maybe a little older when I was cooking solo!. I also baked a lot!.!.!.I remember baking chocolate chip cookies when I was 5 because I could read the recipe all by myself!. My mom's rule was that if we tried a recipe and messed it up, throw it out and she'd never know the difference!.!.!.I seldom had to though, but it was reassuring to know that if it didn't work out, we wouldn't be punished!. My first solo dish after I graduated from scrambled eggs and grilled cheese was probably our family's "goulash" which we always called "Lopilolly"!.

2 quarts whole tomatoes
1 quart tomato juice
2lb ground beef
1 chopped onion
1 lb elbow macaroni

Brown the ground beef and the chopped onion until cooked through; drain grease!. Meanwhile, simmer the tomatoes and juice in a Dutch oven, add the ground beef when it's finished, and stir together!. Let it simmer for 30 minutes, then add the elbows to the pot and cook uncovered until tender, about 20 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been helping in the kitchen since I was 5 and also as a teen was then put in charge of having dinner ready since both my parents worked!. My first recipe search and success with the parents was oriental chicken with rice!.

1 lb chicken tenders or breasts cut into slices sprinkled on both sides with black pepper and garlic salt

1 cup rice

1 cup chicken broth

1 Tbsp soy sauce

1 lb frozen snow peas

In deep skillet put the rice, broth and soy sauce, top with chicken tenders (seasoned)!. Cook on medium heat covered until meat is no longer pink stirring occassionally to keep rice from sticking (add a couple tablespoons of water if needed)!. Top with the snow peas and cook until warmed!. Stir and serve!.

My next best was Chicken Broccoli Divan which is a favorite to this day even with my 3 kids!.

1 1/2 cups cubed cooked chicken or turkey

1 can cream of chicken and broccoli soup or for even better flavor 1/2 can cream of chicken soup and 1/2 a can of cream of broccoli and cheese soup!.

1/3 cup of milk

1 lb package of frozen broccoli, cooked and drained

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or I use 6 cheese slices)

1 Tbsp butter, melted

2 Tbsp bread crumbs

Arrange broccoli on bottom of baking dish; top with chicken!.

Combine soup and milk; pour over chicken!.

Sprinkle with cheese or top with cheese slices!.

Combine butter and bread crumbs; sprinkle over cheese!.

Bake at 450 for 15 minutes or until hot with bubbly cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
