Can i use olive oil for butter in shortbread?!

Question: Can i use olive oil for butter in shortbread!?
Or use butter but add a little olive oil!. I found it easier to whisk the mixture!. Now i am wondering if i can use all olive oil instead of butter, since its healthier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Personally, I wouldn't!. Shortbread is supposed to be dry and flaky and using oil in baking helps keep the cake or cookies moist and soft!.
also, the olive oil might give the shortbread a funny taste!.
Bear in mind as well that when you cook with olive oil it isn't actually that much healthier!. Olive oil denatures when cooked so it loses some of its healthy properties!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you use just olive oil it will change the taste and texture!. I recommend just adding a little olive oil to the butter to help it mix better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You could try but what you will get will taste nothing like shortbread rather more like a Greek style olive oil bread!.

I don't know why people consider butter to be unhealthy, it is not processed as are vegetable seed oils (sunflower, corn, soya etc but not olive oil) and it has plenty of vitamins A, D, E and some vitamin K!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. Texture and flavor will be gross!. The flavor of shortbread is from the butter, I wouldn't even substitute margarine in shortbread!. Go buy some butter, it's not as bad for you as margarine!. The fat in butter is good fat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The butter is the flavor needed for shortbread!.Olive oil would change the constiency and taste!.Try it and you will see!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. The recipe is made for butter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
