Question: Side dishes for Fried Pork Chops!?
Thanks for the answers on the bbq chix and mac & cheese!. I'll be choosing an answer soon!. Here's one more dinner I have planned in the works:

Fried pork chops and what!? I need a starch and vegetable!. I'm also open to low calorie/fat ideas, though I'm open to all (fat content) ideas too!.!.!.this is a splurge day menu:-)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sweet potato fries, three bean salad, skillet fried corn, green salad with light vinaigrette, sliced tomatoes, twice baked potatoes!. Take your pick of any of these!. With the heaviness of the fried chops you want to balance it with something lighter!. Although if you make the fried corn use the same skillet with the pork chop drippings to make the corn!. I would go with simple things, and just spruce them up a bit, so you don't steal the attention from the chops!. For example, roasted garlic mashed potatoes made with cream cheese, lots of butter, etc!. And for a vegetable I'd go with my personal favourite, broccoli with cheese sauce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

a veggie medley:

cut carrots and zucchini into julienne strips
red,green,and yellow bell peppers diced
red onions diced
snow or sugar-snap pea pods (whole)

place all items into skillet with 2-3 tbsp of olive oil!. Saute 5-7 mins until tender (but not soggy-you want them a little crisp)

for the starch-try twice baked zuccini potatoes (my family's fav)

peel one potato per person,, slice and place in a buttered baking dish season with s&p

melt 3 T butter add 3 T flour and cook 1 min !.!.!.add 2 cups milk!.!.stir until thickened pour over potatoes !.top with cheddar cheese and bacon bits and bake covered at 350 for 30 mins!.!.!.remove cover and cook another 15 minsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Italian Chopped Salad Recipe courtesy Giada De Laurentiis

4 teaspoons red wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt, plus more for seasoning
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more for seasoning
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 cups finely chopped romaine lettuce (from 1/2 head)
2 cups finely chopped radicchio (from 1/2 large head)
1/2 cup drained canned white beans, rinsed and patted dry
8 oil-packed sun-dried tomato halves, drained and chopped

Whisk the vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper in a large bowl to blend!. Gradually whisk in the oil to blend!. Add the lettuce, radicchio, beans, and sun-dried tomatoes!. Toss to coat!. Season the salad, to taste, with more salt and pepper, and serve!.

Baked Mashed Potatoes with Parmesan Cheese and Bread Crumbs Recipe courtesy Giada De Laurentiis

1 tablespoon butter
4 pounds russet potatoes, peeled, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons plain dry bread crumbs

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F!. Coat a 13 by 9 by 2-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter and set aside!.
Cook the potatoes in a large pot of boiling salted water until they are very tender, about 15 minutes!. Drain; return the potatoes to the same pot and mash well!. Mix in the milk and melted butter!. Mix in the mozzarella and 3/4 cup of the Parmesan!. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper!. Transfer the potatoes to the prepared baking dish!. Stir the bread crumbs and remaining 1/4 cup of Parmesan in a small bowl to blend!. Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the mashed potatoes!. Recipe can be prepared up to this point 6 hours ahead of time; cover and chill!.

Bake, uncovered, until the topping is golden brown, about 20 minutes!.

1 package dry sugar cookie mix, prepared to package directions
1 cup macadamia nuts
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup white chocolate chips
9 by 12-inch baking dish
Softened butter, to prepare baking dish

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F!.
To cookie mix prepared to package directions, add nuts, coconut and white chocolate chips!. Butter the baking dish and spread cookie dough evenly into a thin layer across the baking dish!. Bake bars for about 15 minutes, or until lightly golden brown!. Remove from oven, and cool slightly!. Then cut into squares, remove with offset spatula and serve!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Amish Creamy Coleslaw With Boiled Dressing

Ingredients
DRESSING
2 large egg
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
3 tablespoons cream or milk
COLESLAW
6 cups shredded cabbage (about 1 3/4 lbs)
1 large shredded carrot, about (3/4 cup)
1 celery, finely chopped (1/2 cup)
1 small onion, finely chopped (about 1/4 cup)
1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup minced parsley
1 1/2 teaspoons celery seed
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
Directions
1In small saucepan, beat the eggs thoroughly; add the sugar, flour, salt and mustard!.
2Combine the vinegar and the water and beat into the egg mixture, then add the butter or oil!.
3Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thick, about 5-8 minutes!. The mixture will be very lumpy looking (not to worry) beat it to smoothness!.
4When very thick, remove from heat and beat in cream or milk!. Cool!.
5this can be made a day ahead and refrigerated!.
6In a large bowl, combine all of the coleslaw ingredients!.
7Add the cooled dressing and toss lightly to coat with the dressing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i like to make a white rice and mix in either cream of chicken or mushroom soup with it and for veg i make cauliflower and put butter and bread crumbs in and mix it up it is soo good! i also cook my pork chops with the cream of chicken soup in the bottom of the pan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
