Perhaps the self-rising flour will react visibly or audibly with acid--you know how baking soda and vinegar bubble when mixed!? I'd try mixing some of each flour with a bit of vinegar and listening for bubbles!.

Edit: The cake flour will be much finer than the all purpose; you may be able to tell by rubbing a little between your fingers!. In any case, it won't matter too much in a muffin recipe!. I would use half of each!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is hard one might be thicker i hate to say it but i don't think there is away next time it will help if you use a label next timeWww@FoodAQ@Com

the cake flour will be VERY fineWww@FoodAQ@Com

SR flour will "sizzle" a bit on your toungeWww@FoodAQ@Com

I think cake flour is milled to a finer grind!. The all purpose flour should have a bigger grind!.

check this site for info: http://www!.recipezaar!.com/library/getent!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You don't need self raising flour just buy all purpose flour & add 1 heaped teaspoon of Baking Powder to each cup of flour!.
Problem solved no more mix ups!. If you want to keep both flours put a label on them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why chance it!. Cut the recipe in half, using both!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
