So I have a can of beets and no ranch dressing - which is how i usually eat beets!.

1 (16 ounce) can beets
1/2 cup white vinegar
3/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
salt to taste
DIRECTIONS
Drain the beet liquid into a medium saucepan!. To the liquid add vinegar, sugar, cornstarch and salt!. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat!. Reduce heat to medium; stir in beets and cook until heated through!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like them mainly sliced, cold with cold meat in sandwiches, an accompaniment to a salad!.

i like thed called harvest beets
open up the can
put juice in a sauce pan
add equal sugar , water and vinegar to juice
bering to a boild
turn down to simmer
add beets
and stir every few minutes until the juice gets to be a thicker consistancy
