Why do the sides of my pie crust slide down the pie pan and how can I avoid it from happening?!
Answers:
That happened to me yesterday - until I caught it!. There is probably too much butter in your crust or your dish was greased before you added the crust!. Too much fat will cause the crust to pull away from the pan and fall in on itself!. If you put it on an ungreased dish or cut down a little on the fat, the crust will adhere to the dish and stay in its proper place!. also, making sure the edges are fluted will keep it from falling down as it will kind of catch on the rim!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Place your crust in the refrigerator to get cold again before baking!.
If you are "blind baking" meaning you are baking the pie crust with no filling Before you bake place a piece of parchment paper or aluminum foil on the pie crust and fill with raw dry beans, these will weight the crust down so it does not puff up or slide down!.
Important thing is to keep the pie dough cold prior to baking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
