I worked as a grocery store cake decorator for a couple years and layers with filling can be tricky and sometimes downright frustrating with thinner cakes!. In the case of splitting one cake into two layers and adding filling, I find it easiest to have the cake lay flat as it will be when decorated on its board or plate!. Using dental floss, carefully centered in the back edge of the cake, cut the top of the cake into a top layer by crossing the lines towards the front side of the layer facing you, taking care to keep the lines centered as they pass through the sides!. The cooler your cake the better this will work!. Then I use a spatula to gently lift one end just enough to slide a second cake board under the top layer to safely move it off the bottom layer in one piece!. If your filling is icing, it can be bagged and piped quickly!. If you will use a curd or jam filling(which I also usually bag and pipe), it is helpful to pipe an icing edge around the bottom layer so the filling can't leak through your outer frosting!. Once your filling is spread on the bottom layer, slide the top layer gently off the board with spatulas if needed to scoot it along!. I find it helpful (in reducing crumbs) to then pipe a seam along the cut line with the icing that will cover the cake!. This creates a sort of seal!. Then decorate your cake as you wish!. However, if your cake is too thin for your liking, or you have apprehension about the layers splitting in the process, go ahead and make a second cake and cut it to shape beneath your top layer!. You will have added height dimension and you can always add extra accent decoration to the taller sides, such as clouds, stars, grass, flowers, or rainbows for your Care Bear!. Measure your pan and divide by 2 to figure out how tall it will be!.
Or simply bake two cakes and stack them with the filling in betweenWww@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't attempt it, it's only 2 inches deep!. That's me though, I don't think i would have a steady enough of a hand to cut it in half!.

Thats me though, do you have a steady hand!? If so try it!! Probably shouldn't cut it more than once!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The pan is only 2 inches deep!.!. so it will be tough to make a second layer, but it can be done with a steady hand!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ok, as long as you have a steady hand you can cut the cake in as many layers as you want to and add filling!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm familiar with Wilton products!. Yes, you can cut the bear in half and fill the cake, no problem! The layers may be thin, but have you ever heard of the twelve layer cakes!? They are made from a jelly roll pan cake (1/2 thick) and are torted!.!.!.so go for it!

Do you have one of Wilton's cake levellers!? If not, invest in one!. They run about $3 and are worth it when you torte (layer) a cake!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

What I have done with cakes like this in the past is bake two cakes - a sheet cake in a 13x9x2 in pan that I remove from the pan and then frost it in a complimentary color!. Make the Care Bear cake and place it on top of the sheet cake and decorate it according to the directions for the Care Bear of your choice!.

Sure, it can be done easily with no problem!. Make sure the cake is completely cool before you try to cut it!.slightly chilled is even better!. I cut my layers with unwaxed dental floss!. It's very easy to make the layers as thin as you like!. Just position the floss around the cake where you want the cut!.!.!.cross the dental floss over in front and pull!. Instant sucess!Www@FoodAQ@Com

To cut the cake into layers wrap a long piece of thread around the cake crossing the two ends!. Slowly pull the sting through and you will have two perfect layers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
