There are a number of online and other sources to buy specialty equipment, cake decorating tools (not just Wilton) to get into cake sculpting!.
Duff (Ace of Cakes) and Michelle Wibowo (michelle sugar art) are just 2 of many 'cake decorating heroes' of mine!.
Mind you, my thought is always when you get such an amazing work of art like that, especially in terms of it being a baby or human face/body, I'm not sure I'd want to cut into it to eat it (kinda creepy cutting up a baby lol)!. But as for works of art and watching her assemble that, I'm always blown away at the detail!. I do sculpted cakes but I am not sure I have the skill for making humans look human lol (hell on paper they are all stick people :)) )Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you think that's awesome you should watch "Ace of Cakes" on Food Network!. Most of what they do is like that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

OH come on, that is disgusting looking!. ScaryWww@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know but I know they use Fondant icing!. Seems time consuming!! And just as someone else said, watch "Ace of Cakes" it's awesome!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wow you rock keep up the killer workWww@FoodAQ@Com

With an EXTREME amount of patience!. Basically it is layers of cake, covered with rolled fondant!. The various tools that you see are fine detail art brushes, and the other tools you can buy at wiltons!.com!. You also need to have a good sense of balance and proportion; being able to make an even baby, instead of lob-sided!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nice cake!.!.!.but could YOU cut into it!?!?!?

I couldn't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try it--you don't know until you try---are you a sculpter!? You'll need Fondant, which can be sometimes difficult with which to work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I can tell you that it took that woman hours to actually make it!. The yellow stuff was marzipan!.!.!.it's often put under fondant in the UK!. To carve a cake, you start with a firm, dense cake!. Then you slice parts of it off until you get the shape that you need!. She was using a serrated cake spatula!.!.!.which you can buy at Target!. The sculpting tools were either sold for fondant or for clay (same tools, but the clay ones were cheaper)!. They didn't show her rolling out the fondant, but even that can take a bit of practice!. She painted it after it was on the cake, for detail!. Fondant can be painted with petal dust, or powdered food color, or thinned paste colors!.

I don't think most people would want to eat a cake that looked like a baby!. I've seen others before that looked like a sleeping baby, but never with that detail, usually just a ball cake and a rounded oval, under a fondant "blanket", with maybe a little curl or two peeking out, and feet!. You can go to cakecentral!.com and look at the cakes in the baby shower gallery and you'll see them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

thats really cool!

you should try and see how it turns out!Www@FoodAQ@Com

the only problem with really gorgeous cakes is I never want to eat them!. And I could NEVER cut into a baby like that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
