Question: How do I store Steak!?
I have a left over peice of steak (UNCOOKED)!.!.!.that's been thawed out
Can I just put it a plastic baggy and freeze it!? How long before it'll go bad!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
no don't refreeze it unless you've cooked it!. when meat is thawed out the bacteria multiply, these are not killed by refreezing just slowed down until it hits right temp again!. bacteria is killed on cooking providing it reaches 75 c + (on steak it only needs to be surface temp)!. if you refreeze it before cooking it will be bad and likely to give you food poisoning not advisable!Www@FoodAQ@Com

you need to cook it, seal it and keep in the fridge!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if it was not previously frozen you can freeze it just fine in a freezer bag !. if it was + you re-freeze it the flavor will be slightly affected !.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oh my, never ever refreeze meat that has been all ready thawed!. Cook it now, then you can refreeze it! In an airtight container, ziplock baggie!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why didn't you cook it all together!? No--so long as meat is continuously going frozen to cooked, you're OK!. Never refreeze anything previously thawed--the bacteria has to be killed by cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it would taste better to go ahead and cook it!. you can freeze the cooked meat by wrapping tightly with saran wrap then aluminum foil!. *or a baggy!. then just pull it out and reheat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If the steak has been thawed on the counter, it needs to be cooked immediately or disposed of!
If it was thawed in the refridgerator, you can save it in the fridge for another day or so!.!. otherwise, I would not suggest refreezing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do not refreeze it!. Put it in a container and completely cover it with olive oil till it is submerged add a few garlic cloves crushed and a bay leaf and whole peppercorns!. If the meat becomes discolored it is still good to eat!. It will last about a week!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
