What about the upper element on an oven?!

Question: What about the upper element on an oven!?
I dont think ive ever used this, except for once melting cheese on a pizza!.
Is this often used in any form of baking!?

(meaning the heat comes from the top, as opposed to the bottom!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It's the broiler element!. You move the oven rack up and use a broiler pan to cook meat and other food!. You should have a pan that looks like it came with the stove or else you can buy one or use a baking pan with low sides and a rack for the meat to drain the fat off while it cooks!. Your temperature dial should have a broil setting on it!.

It's great for grilling chops when the barbeque is unavailable!. Just season your chops and place them on the broiler drip pan!. Move the top oven shelf up near its highest position, slide in the pan and turn on the broiler!. 12 minutes on one side and 7 minutes on the other is about right for beautiful broiled chops!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
