Adding Chocolate Chips to Pancake Mix?!

Question: Adding Chocolate Chips to Pancake Mix!?
Do I just mix up the pancake mix, and then stir in the chips and then throw them on the griddle!?

Or do I flip them once on the griddle and then add them!?

Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
If you add them to the mix, the chips sink to the bottom once they are on the griddle and then the chocolate scorches and your pancakes taste nasty!. Put them on the griddle then let them sit until the pancakes start to bubble, then sprinkle your chips on top!. Then flip the pancakes like normal!. This lets the chocolate sink to the middle of the pancake so it is warm and gooey on the inside instead of burnt on the outside of your pancakes!. I've been making pancakes this way for years and my kids and husband love them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Better adding them once flipped or they may catch - unless they are fluffy american ones and then you could add them before and they'd melt inWww@FoodAQ@Com

just stir it in and cook like useuallWww@FoodAQ@Com

1 1/4 C flour
1 T sugar
1/4 tsp!. cinnamon
1 T baking powder
1/4 tsp!. salt
2 eggs
1 C milk
4 T melted butter
3/4 tsp!. vanilla
3/4 C chocolate chips

Serves 4

Preheat griddle or skillet!. Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder and salt in a large bowl!. Mix together liquid ingredients and beat into dry mixture until smooth!. Fold in the chocolate chips!. Pour 1/4 cup batter for each pancake onto hot griddle!. Cook until the bubbles that form on top begin to pop, before flipping, then cook a minute or so more!. Serve immediately topped with your favorite syrup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

either way would work but it would be easier to just mix them in with the batter and then throw them on the grill or cast iron skilletWww@FoodAQ@Com

Do NOT add them to the mix they will sink to the bottom!.!. Add them to the pancake after you pour it on the griddle but, BEFORE they are ready to flip!.!.!. When they start to bubble!.!.

This also works for BLUEBERRIES just remember to toss in flour before you put them on the hotcakes!

good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

I fold my into the batter, then on the griddle!.

Frozen blueberries, I usually throw them on the pancakes that are on the griddle!.!.it doesn't make the batter blue!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yumm!!! ok so put the pancake mix in the griddle first and then add the choc chips!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

stir them in first!. then stir the batter each time you are going to drop some in the pan so that they don't lay at the bottom of the bowl!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It can be done either way!. I found that it works better when you mix the chips in WITH the batter, then throw them on the griddle!. Regardless of how you do it, the chips will only show on one side!. It just goes to preference!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pour the batter onto the skillet and place the chips on the pancake then flip to cook on the other side!.!.!.!.enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd putthem in after you flip them, or they might melt onto the griddle!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always just add mine to the mix behind hand, as with any add-ins!. (berries; spices; nuts)Www@FoodAQ@Com

In this case I would fold them in after the batter is mixed but right before you throw it on the griddle!. Notice I said fold, not stir!. You want to minimize the damage to the bubbles!.

Unlike blueberries which you should add in once the pancake is on the griddle, chocolate can burn so you want some batter on the outside to protect it!. The only way to do this is to add them before you ladle them onto the griddle!.

But cook quickly, you don't want all the chips to sink to the bottom of your batter!. You'd best use you're largest griddle and maybe even 2 pans!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
