Question: I have just defrosted lamb chops - they have a very slight smell about them so are they okay to cook!?
I froze them on the day of purchase 2 days before the use by date so in theory they should be okay - I would cook them through properly in this case - what'd you reckon!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Lamb usually has a gamey smell to begin!.
You should have smelled the ones I cooked the other day!.

Lamb can also be aged up to 6 weeks( just like beef)!.
Of course that is under the right conditions!.

Your saying they only have a slight smell!?
Those are fine and normal!.
Usually the smell can drive one out of ones home!.
Squeeze some lemon on them after cooking!.
Or marinade them in lemon or olive oil ( garlic goes especially well with lamb as does rosemary) before you cook them!.
It takes alot to kill lamb and beef!.
They're fine!. ( positive)!

And you can cooked them medium rare!.
( nothing wrong with them)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If desperate for lamb chops--or too broke/lazy to go get fresh lamb chops--I might try cooking up those little slabs of meat!. But please cook them thoroughly--to at least medium well!. Wouldn't take a chance with any variation of rare since they have a slight "taint" about them!.

Honestly though, usually once you can actually smell the spoil, you can usually taste it as well!.

Enjoy! (or not)!. :PWww@FoodAQ@Com

i would say if you can smell them get rid of it no question for i cook some meat with out smelling it and i had to throw it outWww@FoodAQ@Com

no put them in the trashWww@FoodAQ@Com
