Question: Would a Cherry Cheesecake be considered a French dish!?!?!?
I'm supposed to make a French dish for my French II class and was just wondering if I could use that food!. I am looking for something with cherries so if the cheesecake is not French, could you give some other suggestions for a French dish avec les cerises!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
No, not at all because CheeseCake is a very common dessert especially in the United States (and deff!. in NewYork)!.

Some french desserts you could consider making a dish of are:

Crepes
Chocolate Mousse
Molten Chocolate Cake
Kugelhopf
Oh, and my FAVORITE: Choux a la Creme!.

If you need a recipe for any of those, just type them into google!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Heres a good one with cherries called Cherry Quatre Quarts Cake!. (Meaning Cherry Four Fourths Cake in french)

Heres what you need:
3 large eggs, separated
? cup granulated sugar
? cup salted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ? cups all-purpose flour
? cup dried cherries

To get prepared for cooking:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees!. Butter a 10-inch round cake pan and set aside!. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form!. In a separate bowl, cream together the egg yolks, sugar, butter, and vanilla!. Stir in the vanilla, flour, and dried cherries, and then fold in the egg whites!.

Now for the cooking:
Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 45 – 50 minutes, until it tests done!. Cool for 10 minutes in pan, and then transfer to a wire rack for complete cooling!.

Makes 10 servings!.

I hope you get a good grade if you make this, and happy cherry picking!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I am French and to me cheesecake (in the American or British style) is not French!. With cherries, I would suggest "un clafoutis aux cerises"!. But maybe this is what you mean!?
It is very easy to make!.
Personally, I put the cherries at the bottom of a pie dish!. Don't stone them, as stones give taste to the clafoutis!. Then mix sugar and eggs!. Add cream, and pour on the cherries!. Bake!. I can't give you proportions, because I don't use any (!) but you can easily find a recipe if you need one by googling "clafoutis"!. There is wikipedia page on it, with pictures!. I can't post the link, because Y!A does not accept it, I don't know why!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
