The most common sodium salt, sodium chloride (table salt), is used for seasoning!.

"The human requirement for sodium in the diet is about 500 mg per day,[10] which is typically less than a tenth as much as many diets "seasoned to taste!." Most people consume far more sodium than is physiologically needed!. For certain people with salt-sensitive blood pressure, this extra intake may cause a highly negative effect on health!."

AS with all foods it depends on how they are prepared!. Often artichoke is soaked in oil (not that oil is a bad thing) or butter!. If you use fresh, frozen or jarred artichokes (not in oil) then they will be very healthy and tasty! If you're at a restaurant ask how they are prepared before ordering to be sure they will be healthy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes - One large artichoke contains only 25 calories, no fat, 170 milligrams of potassium, and is a good source of vitamin C, folate, magnesium and dietary fiber!. The trick is to keep dressings, sauces and dips low in fat, too!.
