Substitution??!

Question: Substitution!?!?
Can i substitute chocolate chips for squares of unsweetened chocolate in a brownie recipe if i use the same amount!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Just reduce the amount of sugar that is otherwise in the recipe!. It should not be a problem!. I'd reduce the sugar by about 1/4th cup for each cup of semi-sweet chips you use!. For milk chocolate I'd reduce 1/2th cup sugar for each cup of chips!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you do it's going to be too sweet!. You're substituting semisweet chocolate for UNsweetened!. If you haven't started making them, go to allrecipes!.com or hersheys!.com and find a recipe that calls for chocolate chips and then you know the brownies will turn out great!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can do that or I use a recipe from the Joy of Cooking that calls for unsweetened chocolate and the substitute that they suggest is 1 TBSP Melted butter and 2 TBSP cocoa per ounce of chocolate needed!.

Hope this helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes you should be able to do so!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes, but you'll need to back way down on teh sugar you add!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
