I need wisdom on grilling steak...?!

Question: I need wisdom on grilling steak!.!.!.!?
Tonight I am going to be outdoor grilling two ribeye steaks!. I'll be using a portable propane grill(I know, blasphemy, but I live in a small apartment in the city) in order to cook them!. What is the best way to cook these steaks with said grill!? I'm hoping for medium well!. They have already been marinated!. Could someone give the rundown on how to cook, how long to cook, and what heat setting!? I've heard two theories, one is to sear the steak on high and be done in 10 minutes and others promote cooking slowly for 30 minutes!. Which do you recommend!? thxWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
First, a good steak, like ribeye doesn't need marinating!.!.!.just allow to room temp, brush with olive oil, salt, pepper, a pinch of oregano and garlic powder!. Then grill, searing on one side on hot grill, turn only once!. Test for doneness!. I like the hotter, faster method, less chance to dry out or become tough!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends on the quality of the meat and how long it has aged and/or marinated!. Since you have marinated, I would get the grill hot (400+ degrees) and if you really must go to medium well, 7 minutes on one side and 5 on the other!. -- 5 minutes and 4 will leave more flavor in the meat!. -- (I assume this is an open grill that you're using!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

We also have a propane grill (but a big one)!.!.!.!.( too much mess with a charcoal one, and my husband would use so much lighter fluid that I could taste it)!. We always sear it quickly on each side, and then grill to your liking on each side (5-8 min)!. We also throw some mesquite smoking pellets on there!. There are some you can get that you wrap in aluminum foil, and poke a hole in the top (they don't need to be soaked)!. Walmart usually has them near their BBQs!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put it on the grill and when it's juices cover the top side turn it over until the juices cover the cooked side!. Remove from heat for 4 minutes and serve the perfect medium steak!. For medium well Let stand 6 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cook slowly--Add some hickory wood chips to grill, to add smoky taste!. Why not medium rare!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

sear on med high on one side until you see first blood (when the blood starts to form on top of steak
flip and cook until desired doneness
**it depends on thickness I usually buy atleast 1" thick and cook on first side 5 min!.!.!.then about 3-5 on other side
**do not keep turning or moving steaks (you lose juice)
remove from heat and let rest 5 min!. in a foil tent before serving remember they will continue cooking after removing from heat so take off before they are cooked to your preference they will continue to cook so for med!. well take off heat when at med!. stage
never use a fork only use tines or spatula (piercing loses juices)
Good luck!.!.!.!.practice makes perfectWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would take the grill and get it to 400 degrees!. Ribeyes are tender cuts so quick fast grilling is appropriate!. To minimize sticking, unless the marinade has oil in it I would rub a little olive oil on the side of the steaks!. I would cook the steaks for at least 7 minutes per side if you're looking for med well!.

If you like nice grill marks on your steak, cook them on one side for 2-3 minutes and rotate but don't turn the steak about -45 degrees to get the crossed grill marks!. You should see juices coming out the other side by the 5- 7 minutes of it being on the grill!. It will take about 10-14 minutes to cook your steaks total!. You can use a thermometer put into the center of the steak avoiding any bone!. If the steak reaches 155 it should be med well, but I would pull off the steak at 145 because there is a phenemenon called carryover cooking that the steak still cooks for a little while after being removed from heat!. Let the steak rest for about 5-10 minutes and it should be ready!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
