Nope!.

Originally, buttermilk was the liquid left over from churning butter from cream!. Today, this is called traditional buttermilk!. Buttermilk also refers to cultured buttermilk, a product where lactic acid bacteria have been added to milk!.[

Buttermilk isn't really a key ingredient for pancakes!. Use ordinary milk instead!.it should be fine!.:)

or, you can substitute buttermilk with:
For each 1 cup buttermilk called for in a recipe, use 1 cup plain yogurt or sour cream;

1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar plus enough milk to make 1 cup;

1 cup milk plus 1 3/4 tablespoons cream of tartar;

No buttermilk is not my adding butter in milk!.

This is the way to prepare buttermilk very easy and can be use in any recipes which say buttermilk to use!.

Normal Yogurt or Skimmed yogurt
Water

Blend both together accordingly the ratio required by the recipe (for example 1 cup yogurt and 1 1/2 cup water ) and in some case a pinch of salt is also added!.Dont make very thick nor watery!. Its done buttermilk ready!.

Buttermilk is a good drink for digestion & cooling and the drink can be refreshing if you add salt (acord!. taste), roasted cumin seeds powder, chopped mint leaves and corriander leaves!.
