I have a wonderful salad recipe that could be used as a main dis if you added some grilled chicken slices or something!. I would add about 2 cups cooked chicken to this salad recipe!. You would probably get about 4-6 servings using it as a main dish!. Here is the recipe:
Strawberry Almond Salad
2 bags European blend Lettuce or about 8 cups Mixed lettuce
(I used spinach, red leaf, and iceberg)
1 –1 pound box strawberries, sliced
1 cup sugared almonds*
1 recipe dressing
Clean & tear lettuce into bowl if not using bags!. Toss!. Mix dressing ingredients well in small bowl!. Set aside!. Clean and slice strawberries; set aside!.
Just before serving, add strawberries to lettuce and toss!. Add dressing and toss well!.
About 12 – 15 servings!.
*Sugared almonds:
Place sliced or slivered (about 10 oz!.) almonds in non-stick skillet and add 1/4 cup sugar!. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar melts and coats almonds!. Spread out onto a piece of foil to cool!.
Dressing:
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
2 Tablespoons poppy seeds
1/2 Tablespoon minced onion
1/4 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 Tablespoon paprika
1/4 cup Rice wine vinegar
1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mix all ingredients together and shake well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, one of my favorite ways to have sweet/savory is to make a glaze out of a jam/jelly with soy and chile sauces!. So, I just grill/sear some beef/pork/chicken/whatever, then mix the sauce to however looks good and let it reduce, and coat the meat with it!.
You could easily adapt this to use strawberry preserves or something, with sesame seed, green onion, and maybe a fresh sliced berry for garnish!.
If you want something that shows off the berries better, maybe isn't a main dish, but strawberries and cream is awesome--especially for breakfast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
