Cooking oil?!


Question: Cooking oil!?
How often should you change the cooking oil in your home fryer!? Mine is about 6 months old, but I only use it every 2,3 weeks!. I know it should be changed, but how often and is leaving it in the cooker ok or should it be refrigerated or drained after every use !?

The older and more used oil is, it becomes less effective!.!.!.!.things don't fry and crisp as quickly!.!.!.and your food will tend to be greasier!.
If I haven't fried fish or something that will give other foods an off taste!.!.!.I strain my oil after the second time!.!.!.!.I line a screen strainer with a paper towel!.!.!.and pour the oil though into a bowl!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

In a restaurant environment it's a good idea to change the oil sometimes once a week!. I guess the call is yours!. If it looks dirty and gritty, smells bad, or has an off color, change it to be safe!.

Not a bad choice for deep frying!.
Olive oil is not a good choice for any deep frying because it burns at a very low temperature and can add a terrible flavor if you don't know how to do it properly!.
also to agree with others it is a good idea to strain your oil after ever couple of uses!.!.!.!.or even after one use if lots of batter or crumbs release into the oil!. This will also prolong the life of the oil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends on what kind of oil you use!. If you use canola, peanut, or corn oil, you should change it after one or two uses!. Other oils like olive oil and coconut can last a lot longer, especially if you filter it to remove debris between uses!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
