Actually, all raisins are made by drying grapes of different kinds!. Black and red currants have nothing to do with the grape family!. However plain currants are made from drying a particular variety of grape

There are 3 types of currants and they grow on a shrub!. Raisins are dried grapes!. The taste is similar!. White and red currants are used for jam making and baking, black currants are used in making wines and liquors!. They are harvested in the cooler regions of Europe and northern California in the fall!.
