I've heard applesauce works!. I have used a can of diet coke!. Just take the box mix and add one can!.!.!.no eggs, no oil!.!.!.just the coke!. Taste pretty good!. It's actually a weight watchers thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Applesauce is a good substitute for oil in many recipes (e!.g!. muffins) but count me among the skeptics for substituting it for eggs!. Eggs have a fairly complex role in cakes, and the oil in the yolk is just part of the story!. The referenced web page also points out some recipes (e!.g!. cookies) where the applesauce substitute for oil just doesn't work!.

If the cake for your grandparents is a special occasion, that's probably not the right cake to experiment with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Condensed milk is a good substitute for eggs!. half tin condensed milk for every 2!.5 cups of flour used in the recipe!. 1 egg = 1 heaped tablespoon soya powder or 1/4 cup tofu 1 egg = 2 heaped tbsp potato starch or arrowroot powder!.
--------------------------------------
2 tbsp of baby applesauce!.!.!.!.it acts as a binder and keeps it moist!.
--------------------------------------
use 1 banana = 1 whole egg

You can always find a powdered egg replacer at any health food store - they work greatWww@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with JJ using a diet coke in a cake mix makes a wonderful cake, and it does rise properly and you don't have near as many calories as a tradional cake!. The only calories in the cake are what the actual cake mix box says!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have the Cake Doctor book!. I notice they use buttermilk a lot, so maybe that would work instead of the eggs, but it won't have the same feel!. I don't think it will be as fluffy!. Good luck!. What about egg substitutes!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've substituted applesauce for the oil in cakes but the eggs are an important part of cake!. If you don't use eggs it's basically brownie-like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can use apple sauce for moisture and sweetening, but how do you plan to get the leavening (rise) that eggs provide!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

The eggs help solidify the cake!. Applesauce won't work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
