When buds appear on the white potato, what does it means?!

Question: When buds appear on the white potato, what does it means!?
I have potatoes that i forgot about!. When i open the bag, some had white buds growing out of them!. Does that mean that they are bad!. I asked my sister, she said that when the potatoes are soft and discolored, then they are bad!. I just threw the ones away, that had the buds!. Are they still good to eat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes they are!. You just peel them off with the rest of the potato skin!. Potatoes have 'eyes'!. That is where the buds start growing!. If you planted them in a garden and watered them, you would begin to see plants growing!. Before long (when the plant dies out) you would be able to dig up more potatoes! Homegrown potatoes are so good and sweet! You should try it sometime!. You would probably not go back to storebought potatoes!Www@FoodAQ@Com
