What parts of artichoke are edible. What is the best way to prepare an artichoke?!

Question: What parts of artichoke are edible!. What is the best way to prepare an artichoke!?
Answers:
Place the artichoke in boiling water -- enought to cover it completely!. Do not cut off the stem (the middle of that is edible)!.

After about 30 minutes (longer for larger artichokes), take it out of the water, let it drain for a minute to cool off!.

Edible parts:
The bottom of most of the leaves!. Grab the tip of the leaf, dip it in butter, or mayonnaise, or eat it 'plain', and scrape the lower part of the leaf off into your mouth with your teeth!. Some of the outer leaves be tough and will only have a little bit of stuff, but as you get into the middle part, the leaves will be more tender and sometimes you can eat almost 1/2 of a
whole leaf!.

The furry stuff and the very small leaves in the middle are not edible!. Take a spoon and scrape away the furry stuff and the small leaves in the middle!.

The "heart"!. This is the best part!. After you have pulled off off the leaves and scraped away the furry stuff, you just eat the whole heart!.

The stem!. Take a potato peeler/scraper and peel the outer portion of the stem!. The middle part of the stem is like the heart!.

The base of the leaves and the part that the leaves are attached to, including a good bit of the stem!. I steam mine in water with a little vinegar in it!. The "choke" or hairy part in the middle is not edible and must be scraped off after cooking!. I trim off the sharp spines at the tips of the leaves with scissors!. It takes about 45 minutes to cook a large one at 4,500' alt!. I dip in butter but others use mayonaise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you just need to remove the outer leaves, peel off the stem with a potato peeler, then cut in quarters (for small / medium artichokes)!. Remove the hairy part inside!. you can dip them inside a frying batter made of flour and water!. Then deep fry them for 6-8 minutes!.
Drain and serve with the squeezed juice of a lemon!.
