Question: Would you share a cooks hint with everyone!?
My hint is to cook corn only 8 mins once it starts to boil!.Drain and serve!.Plus when cooking pasta,boil 12 mins then drain and run cold water over to stop the cooking!.Positive hints appreciated!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have lots of what I consider to be good kitchen hints, but here's a really useful one: when you're making hard-boiled eggs, first of all, do NOT use fresh eggs!. Use eggs that have been in your fridge for a week or two!. The air pocket inside the eggs (between the shell and the liquid) gets larger over time, and the eggs will be much easier to peel!.

Second, put your eggs into a pot of COLD water!. Bring the water to a rolling boil, then TURN OFF THE HEAT and put a cover on the pot!. Leave the eggs undisturbed for exactly 18 minutes!. After 18 minutes, the eggs will be perfectly hard-boiled, and since they weren't vigorously agitated, there's less cracking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A tsp!. of olive oil put into water you are going to cook pasta in will keep it from sticking!. also a "pinch" of salt added to same water will raise the specific gravity and make it come to a boil faster!. A "pinch" of baking soda added to green veggies will help retain their color(does not alter taste) A "pinch is = to about 1/8 tsp!. I add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of white pepper and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to mayo when I am using it to make salads of any kind - chicken, tuna, potato, macaroni, etc!.

I don't use salt in my frosting, instead I add a tablespoon of lemon juice to my powdered sugar, butter and milk - it makes it taste so good!.

A pastry cutter makes a great tool for cutting hard boiled eggs for salad or sandwiches, also works for tuna!.

Passion fruit can be substituted for lemon in most pie and bar recipes!. Yummy and different!.
