It sounds like it's extra-firm tofu!. We love to slice it very thick; brush lightly with olive oil; sprinkle with garlic salt & oregano, and grill it on both sides until browned!. You could do that in a frying pan too!.!.!.!. it tastes a little like fried mozzarella sticks:)!.!.!.!.!.!. you can also cut it up and put it into soups, chilis, spaghetti sauce!. Just about anything - since it doesn't have any flavor and takes on the flavor of whatever you're cooking it with!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can chop up the tofu and sprinkle it on top of a salad!. If you want to cook it (you are really just heating it up, so you can't readily butcher it) I suggest slicing it and coating in a light teriyaki sauce and sprinkle with seaseme seeds!. Cook in pan (sprayed with PAM) and heat through! Enjoy! Really awesome if you slice some chives on top You will be suprised, tofu really does just take on the taste you add to it!. So experiment with a favorite sauce or marinade that you have! Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I like to slice it into 1/4" thick slices, spray them lightly with an olive oil or canola spray (canola is better), put it on a broiler pan under the broiler til browned on both sides, then top with a little marinara, shredded mozzarella and various pizza toppings, roasted red peppers, olives, etc!.
This got the kids to eat it too - sneaky, but hey, whatever works! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
