Bbq chicken?!
Tomorrow I am going to make bbq chicken for the first time!. I'm not sure this will work, but I want to leave the chicken whole (or do I have to cut it up into pieces)!? I was going to cover it in bbq sauce and bake it in the oven!. Will this turn out alright or is there another way I should do it!? Should I just boil it first and have hubby put it on the grill!? If I do bake it, how long does it take to bake a whole chicken and at what temperature!? Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I love BBQ anything!. Baking in the oven is great, but is really no substitute for meat cooked over a real flame - and all the BBQ sauce in the world is not going to give it that BBQ flavour!.
So, I'd season them with some chili salt (you can make your own if you give some salt and dried chili/ flakes a spin in the morter & pestle) and perhaps grind some fennel seed or cumin with the chili salt!.
Cut your chicken up into quarters and put it all in a plastic bag with a little oil (olive or vege) and into the fridge for as much time as you've got!.
For BBQ:
Pre-heat your BBQ and place the chicken pieces on it as flat as possible!. Brush on some BBQ sauce on the top side as the chicken is cooking!. You'll need to grill the chicken for at least 7-10 minutes per side with your grill turned to medium!. When you turn the meat, brush the other side with the sauce!.
For oven:
If you use the oven, heat to 350 and then lay your chicken on a tray!. Cook for 40 minutes before turning on the grill and blasting it for 5 minutes to crispy up the skin!.
Take the pieces out and brush them with BBQ sauce and put them back in the oven for another 5 minutes under the grill!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I woukd cut it up and see how it turns out since this is your first time clean it off put your own season place in the oven for 45 min the put the BBQ sauce on it place it back in the oven for another 15 minutes make sure you have a little water in the pan Good Luck! Give hubby a surprise since it's your first time either he will like it or not but it don't hurt to try so you can know what not to do the next time!. if it don't turn out right!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
First, cook til almost done then finish with the sauce!. The sugars in the sauce will burn if you cook the whole time with the sauce on!. Second, it's best to cut up the bird then cook at a fairly low temp in the oven or on the grill in pieces then finish off with the sauce for the last 10 - 15 minutes!.
Last, you can do in the oven whole at 375 for about an hour to 1 1/4 hours!.
Good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would season it, maybe stuff some chunks of onion, celery garlic or what have you inside the cavity, roast/bake it for about 50 min!. at 325, then slather it with bbq sauce and turn your heat up to 400 for about 15min!. Of course this all depends on the size and weight of chicken!. Check for doneness by making sure juices run clearWww@FoodAQ@Com
ok i will tell you and all the others my recipe it is first you cut it up and then you get a big pan in the shape of a circle and put them in it and first you and the water and put it in on 350 degrees for one hr then you tack it out and put bbq all over it and put it back in for 10-15 mins and tack out and eat it in enjoy bye it is goodWww@FoodAQ@Com
U can cover it in BBQ sauce and place it in the oven!.!.!.or place it in a slow cooker!.!.!.!.no water is needed as the chicken creates its own juices!.!.!.!.but if it makes u feel better put a cup o water in there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Best to cut it up!.

I have used Ribs, just as good!.
I tried this recipe with 'meatballs'!.!.!.!.was equally

I found another variation!.!.!.!.!.omit the catsup and add a small jar of Salsa (any variety)!.
I have tried using Salsa (omitting the catsup!.!.!.!.not)!.
You'd think a recipe with only '3' ingredients couldn't be messed up!.!.!.!.wouldn't you!?!?
Well!.!.!.while I was preparing to fix the 'Cola Chicken' recipe

I fixed chicken wings, (using the above recipe)
but!.!.!.I added the spices from a MILD (I don't care for "HOT") Buffalo Wings packet!.!.!.(the kind you get to bake in the oven)!.!.!.!.!.I thought it was really good!.!.!.!.!.(but you/I can't find a 'bad' way to fix chicken)!.
Finally!.!.!.!.!! I fixed the 'SALSA' chicken!.!.!.!.!.!.that's good , too!.
Another (bright)idea!.!.!.!.!.I thought of trying!.!.!.!.!.!.replace the
catsup with a bottle of Shrimp Cocktail Sauce!.!.!.and add a bag of (pop corn) shrimp!.!.!.!.!.!
Fixed the shrimp with cocktail sauce!.!.!.!.!.!.eh!.!.!.wasn't all that
great!.!.!.was OK!.!.!.probably won't be fixing it again!.
