Should baby back ribs be boiled? Or slow cooked on a grill?!

Question: Should baby back ribs be boiled!? Or slow cooked on a grill!?
Answers:
The only way to get fall-off-the-bone ribs is to slow cook them!. Sure you could use your outdoor grill, but with an oven you have much more control over the environment where you cook your ribs!. It's important to make sure you give your ribs enough time, because cooking ribs over high heat in a short amount of time will not yield the best results!.

Step1 Place your ribs on heavy duty aluminum foil with the shiny side town!. Coat each side of the ribs with a generous portion of dry rub!. You can either make your own dry rub using brown sugar and spices or use a commercially sold dry rub!. Pull the sides of the foil up and fold together to seal!. Roll each end of foil up to seal!.

Step2 Allow ribs to sit in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight!.

Step3 Preheat oven to 250 degrees F!.

Step4 Prepare braising liquid!. In a microwave safe container, add 1 cup white wine, 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of honey and a couple chopped cloves of garlic!. Heat the braising liquid in microwave using high heat for 1 minute!.

Step5 Place rib "packets" onto a baking sheet!. Open one end of each foil packet and pour half of the braising liquid into each!. To evenly distribute the liquid, tilt the baking sheet!. Re-seal each end of the rib packet!.

Step6 Bake in 250 degree F oven for 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours!.

Step7 Drain braising liquid from the rib packets into a medium sauce pan!. Bring the liquid to a low boil and reduce by at least half or it reaches the consistency of thick syrup!. Using a brush, apply the braise syrup to the ribs!.

Step8 Broil the glazed ribs until the glaze begins to caramelize!. You may also use an outdoor grill to do this!.

Step9 Brush again, once ribs have lightly caramelized, with hot glaze and serve as desired!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Slow cooked over indirect heat, preferably in a smoker at 250 degrees for 3 to 4 hours, never boiled
If you boil ribs you loose most of the flavor in the meat and they are bland no matter what you do to spice them up and try to make them taste better!. You can do baby backs successfully using a weber kettle bbq with water soaked wood chips in a foil packet or small can successfully!. Just be patient!. You will be pleased with the results!. You can use briquettes but be sure to replace the spent briquettes every 60 to 70 minutes of cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

BEST BBQ GRILLED RIBS (SIMPLE)

2 racks of ribs
salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
1 bottle honey bbq sauce
water
1/8 cup olive oil
aluminum foil
grill

Start off by placing ribs in a glass casserole dish, rub with oil and then with salt and pepper!. Now flatten ribs as much as possible and add water just to barely cover them!. Ribs racks may be cut in half if needed)!.
Simmer in oven for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or just until tender; (don'’t try to cook them too fast or they will become tough)!.

When ribs are finished in the oven, drain them, start grill on medium and allow to heat!.

Cover with foil and brush (or pour) on just a small amount of oil to keep ribs from sticking/burning!. Brush on first layer of bbq sauce after draining!.

Once grill is heated, place ribs on grill!. Cook covered for 5-10 minutes, then brush on bbq sauce!. Grill another 5-10 minutes, keep adding bbq sauce until there is a thick layer of bbq sauce!.

If ribs become somewhat dark, that's ok; the bbq sauce tastes better cooked than raw!. When bbq sauce is all gone, the ribs are almost done!.

Grill 5 more minutes to finish cooking bbq sauce, then serve!. If they stick a little it is ok, that is what the oil and foil is for!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Either way, theres a trick to a tender and flavorful rack of ribs!. If your making pork ribs Boil a large pot of water with about 1/2-1 cup of vinegar and fill a spice ball full of pickling spice(this acts as a meat tenderizer) and allows you to cook the meat so it doesnt burn!. Keep the meat in the pot until the color of the ribs turn to a light tan (about 10 min) The pickling spice adds a mild but zingy flavor to the meat, all you need to do is add the bbq sauce of your choice towards the end of the cooking process!. MMMMmmm its making me hungry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I simmer them 4-6 mins!. ,so the silver-skin on the inner surface comes off easier, then they get cooled ,seasoned then on the grill with indirect heat for a couple hours with lots of wood chips soaked in warm water (for the smoke ) as they approach the nearly dome point I sauce them by dipping !.then back onto the grill for forty-five mins!. and sauce em again and this time they are on for an hour --when they come off they are done and the sauce has had time to caramelize ,and soak in a bit ,I learned from a master in New Orleans ,Chef Paul Prudehome ,owner of K-paulsLouisianna Kitchen just off bourbon street (the other secret : use a half cup of Jim Beam per pound of meat ,as a soak after simmering )this helps the meat take the seasonings betterWww@FoodAQ@Com

The best is to smoke them for about 6 hours!. You can mimic the slow cooking of a smoker in a very low oven!. I have a cheap water smoker that I use!.

I find that boiling them makes them tough!. When I have boiled them it was just a par-boil where I finished them on the grill!. Just boiled ribs would be awful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What I like to do is boil them first, slowly for a couple of hours!. Then I drain the water and add my favorite BBQ sace and then either bake them in the oven or grill!. Actually, I'm just baking the sauce onto them!. Boiling them gets them good and tender, then baking or grilling bakes the sauce on them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

slow cooked on a grill is the best way!. I've used a crock pot too with success!.

I hope you mean broiled!. Boiled baby back ribs would be awful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What Mark said!. Slow, moist heat, and mesquite!. YOU MUST USE MESQUITE!. Not really, but it makes it taste better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I prefer to slow roast them on the oven, or wrapped in foil and baked on the grill!.
There is no need to boil them first!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Slow cooked on a grillWww@FoodAQ@Com

slow cooked in a crock pot, with BBQ sauce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
