Answers:
Emily Dickinson died of old age and old age aliments!. She never baked herself in oven!. I think your friend or teacher of this friend is just pulling your leg!.
Sadly I had a teacher who didn't teach english in some years teaching that when I was in school and he said she killed herself!.
I was disappointed in him when I looked it up and discovered the truth!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its untrue that Emily Dickenson cooked herself,
However, on February 11, 1963, the poet SYLVIA PLATH committed suicide by sticking her head in a gas oven with the gas turned on (not the flame, just the gas)!. the misinterpretation that she cooked herself probably came from that fact that alot of people are not used to the old fashioned gas ovens that had to be lit with a match because they didn't have the auto light feature of a modern gas oven!.
so, I think Sylvia Plath was who your friend meant and she didn't roast herself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As the previous poster mentioned, she died from her disease!.!. NOT in an oven!.

It would be highly unlikely for a person to bake themselves in an oven!. Sure, you could set your oven, get in and close the door, but the heat and burn of the heat and hot metal would cause a person to quickly jump out!. When you touch a hot pan by accident or a hot piece of food you instinctively let go and pull back without control over it!. I guess you if you were unconscious,maybe!.!.

I've never heard of such a thing!. I don't know if I should laugh, or be really disgusted!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

She died May 16th, 1886 and the official cause of death was listed as bright's disease!. She was ill for quite sometime!. Her illness had nothing to do with baking herself in an oven!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tasty thought!.!.!.IDK about Ms!. Dickenson, but if the oven is big enough and you're cold enough, why not!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
