Old bananas, any savoury dish you can use them in?!
Any ideas, not a dessert, maybe something like a curry!?
I'm always throwing them out, thought it might be nice to eat them for a change!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Supposedly you can make (or really you're supposed to make) banana pudding from very ripe bananas!. I personally do not like it that way!. I use just barely ripe ones--you know while they're still yellow, before they start to get brown spots!.
Recipe for banana pudding:
3-5 bananas
3/4 cup sugar divided
4 eggs separated
3 T!. plain flour
2 cups milk
dash salt
1 tsp!. vanilla flavoring
Nilla Wafers
Mix 1/2 cup of the sugar the dash of salt, and the 3 T!. flour together!. Place in heavy saucepan!. Add the egg yolks one at a time and stir after each addition!. Stir in the 2 cups milk!. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens !. Remove from heat and add vanilla flavoring!.
Beat the egg whites and add the other 1/4 cup sugar slowly!. Beat until egg whites peak when beater is lifted up!. You may also add 1/8 tsp!. cream of tartar to make a prettier meringue!.
Place about 1/4 cup of pudding in bottom of 8-inch baking dish!. Put a layer of Nilla Wafers over that, then a layer of bananas, then add half of pudding!. Repeat!. Spoon meringue on top and place in 400o oven for 5 minutes or so!. You'll need to watch it to make sure it doesn't burn!.
You can either serve this warm or cold!. We prefer it cold, but my parents ate it warm and would throw it away if it became cold! You'll have to decide! Enjoy
You can also make banana bread with very ripe bananas!.
I've heard that if you put bananas in the frig when they get to the point you like them they won't ripen anymore although the peeling will turn black!. I haven't tried this however!.
I just went to submit this and realized you said not a dessert!. Oh well, I went to a lot of trouble to do this, so you're getting it anyway LOL!. Maybe someone will benefit from it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know this will sound weird but my portuguese grandmother always made a dish that was with butterflied sole fish, crumbed and fried, with caramelized bananas and potatoes!. I think its origins are from brazil but i can tell you its the best combination especially if the fish is well seasoned with salt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
