Make your own baking mix (you can half this recipe if you want)
8 cups all-purpose flour (or 4 cups each all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour) or use all white flour
2 Tablespoons baking powder
1 Tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups dry nonfat milk
2 cups shortening
PREPARATION:
Mix flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar, baking soda, nonfat milk, and shortening together in large bowl (if you have a large mixer it is ideal to use for blending this mix but it can also be done quite adequately using a pastry blender to cut in shortening)!.
Add shortening about a half cup at a time mixing well after each addition!. Mixture will be mealy when mixed adequately!.

Put in air-tight container and store either in refrigerator or at room temperature!. Use within about 3 months!.

For Muffins:
Mix 2 cups of Baking Mix with 2 Tablespoons sugar, 1 beaten egg and 2/3 cup milk!. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes!.

Bisquick is a combination of flour, baking soda, salt, sugar and baking powder making it the all time favorite for those of us who want to cut cooking time in half!.

I have had many instances where I ran out of Bisquick and did it by scratch using the above!. Not knowing what you are planning, I cannot realistically give you the accurate amounts to use, but I know for some things will call for 2 cups flour, 1/8 tsp!. salt, 1 tsp!. baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder and the sugar amount will depend on what you are making (i!.e!. cake would be 1-2 cups, etc!.) So good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you said what it is for, I could possibly send a recipe for it!. Baking mix is pretty much a good biscuit recipe without the liquid added and that is what I would do but I usually have a from scratch recipe for anything I would need that calls for a mix!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
