What do I do hmmmm there is suppose to be a fire under there so I start to cook!Www@FoodAQ@Com
There should be ad rip off pan that is located under the coals and the grease and other stuff should be able to drop down into that pan!. If it does not, check and se if the hole is plugged or blocked, if it isn't make sure the pan isn;t too filled or close to the extreme heat!.
If none of those are the cause, I would suggest thinking about a new grill because as a fireman i can tell you that barbecue grills and pretty safe until they are no longer safe and then they are dangerous!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you have old coals or haven't cleaned your grill really good, this could be old grease catching fire!. Sometimes old coals that are deteriorating can soak up dripping fat that catches fire later!.
If you need to replace your coals, anywhere that sells grills will have them!. They don't last forever - maybe one season if you use your grill a lot!. As I remember, they cost about $20, but I haven't had a gas grill in years so it might be more!.
The gas vents might need cleaned or replaced too, those U-shaped things on the bottom with the little holes where the flames comes out!. They get clogged too and fire might only be coming out of the few holes that are open and cause flare ups!. I remember cleaning them out with an unbent paperclip, I also remember replacing them too!.
I like my charcol grill much better for flavor and ease of cleaning or cheaper to replace!. But everyone has their own preference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

remove the grill, and burner then you can scoop out all the old grease and stuff that is down there!. I know its outside but you still have to clean it every once in awhile!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
first you have to clean all the old grease and food off of the grill so that won't happen but if it does shut the gas down asap and blow the fire out!.!.!.make sure to turn the gas off from the tankWww@FoodAQ@Com
