Salads to me are great ways to get creative, and also to clean out the fridge!. When you clean out the fridge, however, that doesn't mean you settle for items that are not edible anymore, or not quality!. Leftover rice, rice dishes, leftover roast chicken or steak or any other meat you had for dinner last night, or finfish or shellfish, then there are things like olives and artichoke hearts, seeds and nuts, fruit, and sundried tomatoes, and chickpeas, and well the list goes on and on!. Get creative and combine fresh raw greens, different kinds, mixture of lettuces, or spinach, or other greens at the store, venture over to the cabbage section, try shredded chinese cabbages as well as red and green!. Mix cooked and raw vegetables!. I do that all the time -mixing in (leftover) cooked broccoli or something else with my raw salad veg!. Or various cheeses, and great way to use up leftover pasta!.
And then experiment with your dressing, if you keep a variety of store bought ones in your pantry, go for that, if you're more prone to experiment, have on hand an assortment of oils and vinegars and herbs to mix together!.
There are a variety of salad recipes out there, that are somewhat rigid, like the basic components of a greek salad, or a caesar salad, but aside from those 'specialty' salads, you can do whatever you want with a salad, nobody can tell ya what to or not to put in a salad, as long as you experiment and make sure the various colours/textures/flavours/aromas work together!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

there are at least 15 ingredients you can throw into a salad, or one only, or several of those!. You can also change things by using different salad dressings you buy, or even make your own!. You can add many different kinds of fruit (and sweeten or not sweeten it)!. You can add all kinds of meats (anything from chicken, salomi, shrimp, ham, beef, sausage) and also add different kind of cheeses (shreaded or squares and like American, Swiss, cottage cheese or cottage cheese with flavor like with pineapple in it) and can have a few kinds in the salad or just one type of cheese in the salad!. You can use the salad as one big meal, or you can use it as a side dish, or for snacks!. You can have a yogurt dressing or use it as a side dish!. You can plunk eggs and tomatoes (sliced) on the top of it to make the salad look special and then add a little of paprika on top!. You can make a salad with just a piece of lettuce, a piece of fruit and a ball of Philadelphia cheese with nuts on it!.!.!.!.!.!.salads are quite versatile!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can add anything that you think will give your salad something fun like veggies, fruit, different meats, different types of lettuce and than there are lots of different dressings, you could even make your own fun dressing or just experiment with the different dressings!.
