Question: Can anyone think of a good afternoon snack that is easy to make!?
in the afternoon, when im hungry i always eat those ready to eat stuff, like the noodles you buy in ur local store!. i want to change my afternoon eating habits to be healthy!
i like cheese , pickles, and those pesto with shrimp!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Grilled Cheese Sandwhich
Ingridients:
butter
mayo
cheese
Pickles

-preparation-
spread some butter on the outer layer of the bread on both sides, some mayo on the inside!. grate lots of cheese!.
in a heated pan, add some butter(to prevent bread from sticking in the pan)
cook for i minute on each side or until bread is golden brown
place on a plate with some cut pinapples and pickles on the side!.


Pesto With Shrimp Pasta sauce
Cooked Shrimp
Pesto(can be bought in a jar)
one garlic
Pasta(cook the pasta before cooking the sauce)

heat pan, add some olive oil, when ready saute garlic and shrimp!. add pesto sauce and heat for 5-10 minutes!.
can be eaten with pasta, add some parmesan cheese if you like!.

Apple and Cheddar Afternoon Snack

Ingredients:

1 Mission? Corn Tortilla heated
1/4 cup Cheddar Cheese shredded
1/2 Apple sliced
Ground Cinnamon

Instructions:

1!. Place tortilla on a paper plate!. Place 1/2 the cheese on top!. Top with apple slices and remaining cheese!. Sprinkle with cinnamon!.Cook in microwave on HIGH 30-45 seconds or until cheese just begins to melt!.

Fruit Salad

Ingredients

3/4 cup Fresh strawberries, sliced
3/4 cup Green grapes, halved
1/3 cup Small cantaloupe, cut into chunks
1/3 cup Medium firm banana, sliced
2 tablespoons And 1/2 teaspoon orange juice


Preparation

1!. In a large bowl, combine the fruit (Leave out bananas until right before serving)!. Pour juice over fruit and toss to coat!. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours!.

2!. Add bananas, if using, Stir just before serving!.

Ingredients

1 can Refried Beans, 16 oz
1 Lg Avacado, mashed
1 Sour cream, 16 oz
Lettuce, chopped
Tomato, chopped
Chedder cheese, shredded


Preparation

1!. Layer each in a pie pan
2!. Served best with Dorito Ranch Chips

Afternoon Snack Muffins

Ingredients

2 cups Self raising flour
? teaspoon Cinnamon
Pinch of salt
? cup Brown sugar
200g Tub of flavoured yoghurt
1 Egg, lightly beaten
? cup Light olive oil
1? cups Chopped fruit (pear, apples, etc)
Cinnamon sugar, optional


Preparation:
Preheat oven to 180°C or 160°C fan forced!. Grease a 12-hole (1/3 cup capacity) standard muffin tin!.

Sift flour, cinnamon, sugar and a pinch of salt into a large bowl!.

Make a well in the centre!. Add yoghurt, egg and oil!. Stir until mixture has nearly come together!. Add fruit and stir a couple of more times!. Mixture should be quite lumpy!. Divide among 9 of the holes!. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired!.

Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through!.

Note:
I use natural yoghurt as its slightly healthier, and i have used tinned fruit, and fresh fruit both work just as good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like P!.B on toast!. Or make a B!.LT!. (toasted white bread, mayo, bacon , lettuce, tomato)!. I like grilled ham and cheese sammies!. Try baking some potato wdges: potatoes cut into wedges, garlic & onion powder with a sprinkle of paprika, salt and chili/cayenne pepper if u want it to have a spicy kick!., can add parsley,chives, or parm cheese if desired!.!.!.!.
Drizzle potatoes w/olive oil and toss with seasonings spread onto cookie sheet and back for 30-35 min @ 375!. Make sure to preheat!. and I like to flip my wedges 1/2 way through so they get nice and crispy on both sides!.
I love cold cut salami rolled up with cream chease!. and I also like salami or hame on a bagel w/c!.cheese (not toasted)
You can make a bada*$$ salad: spring lettuce mix-prepackaged-or buy romaine, iceburg, baby spinach!.!.!.!.whatever u like!. Can (drained of course) of artichoke hearts, jar of baby corn (drained), grate 1-2 carrots, radishes, broccoli, sugar snap peas, tomato, red onion, cucumber cook some bacon or buy the bacon bits-the real ones, not the imitation) sprinkle with shredded cheddar or parm and whatever dressing you like, topped with seasoned croutons!.
When I make mine, I omit the radish but add cilantro, drizzle with ranch and squeeze a lime over it!. It's especially good w/sliced grilled chicken !
You could always try a yogurt smoothie: cup of yogurt, skim mild and sprinkle some sugar in w/ frozen berries!.
You can always make a fruit salad w/ mango, thawed pkg of strawberries/or fresh if in season, can of mandarin oranges, bananas, can of pineapple, marihino cherries-halved & drained, purple grapes, shredded coconut w/cool whip!. mix together

Shrimp ceviche:

1/2 lb peeled deveined cocktail/medium shrimp, cooked and cooled!. I
n bowl, add 1/2 C!. cocktail sauce and 2 TBS ketchup!. Chop half of med size red onion(or white)!. I prefer red b/c it's sweeter!. Dice 2 tomatoes, dice 1 avacado, handful of cilantro (to taste)!. and squeeze at least 2 lime!. U can add hot sauce if u like!. Serve with crackers (saltines)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Southwest Texas Snack Mix

1 cup small pretzel twists
1 cup corn chips
1 cup oyster crackers
1 cup toasted pumpkin seeds
1 cup honey-roasted peanuts
2 T butter or margarine, melted
2 T brown sugar
1 t Worcestershire sauce
1 t Chili Powder
1/2 t ground cumin
1/8 t cayenne pepper, optional

Preheat oven to 300?F!.

Combine first five ingredients in a large bowl!. Set aside while you make the
coating mixture!.

In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix well!.

Pour mixture over snack mix and toss to coat!.

Place on ungreased 10x15-inch shallow baking pan!.

Bake 25 minutes or until peanuts are golden brown, stirring halfway through cook time!.

Cool completely!. Mixture becomes crisp as it cools!.
