Question: What is a good side dish for stuffed cabbage rolls!?

When I make them we have mashed potatos and green beans!.!.!.or potato salad and green beans!.!.!.!.

You have to make green beans southern style though!.!.!.


2 ham hocks
2 tablespoons bacon grease
1 stick real butter
4 cans green beans, drained (I buy no salt added)
water to cover

put the ham hocks in pot, cut up butter and place in pot, add grease, add beans, cover with water, boil, cook and simmer for at least 9 hours, adding water as needed!.!.!.uncovered!.!.!.!.

take out ham hocks when your done and eat or disgard!.


Potato Salad

5 to 6 large potaos boiled whoel with skin on until fork tender, cool and peel skin and diced
4 hard boiled eggs, cooled and diced
4 stalks celery diced fine
1 green pepper diced fine
3 carrots diced fine
salt and pepper
mayo
6 to 8 green onion sliced


Mix all and chill for at least 4 hoursWww@FoodAQ@Com

A big ole pot of "Hoppin John" ( a southern dish that is a mixture of black eye'd peas, tomatos, onions, garlic, corn & japaleno peppers!.!.!.!.!.Served with a nice dish of homemade cornbread & plenty of sweet tea!.!.!.!.!.!.yummy!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

mashed or boiled potatoes and creamed carrots, or plain carrots with butter!. The potatoes are needed because cabbage rolls are so acidic!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Potato (mashed or any other way you like to present)!. Compliments tomato & cabbage!. Salad (green) is a nice side always and of course, rolls or bread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since the cabbage rolls already have rice and meat in them, some sort of vegetable would be good, carrots, maybe, or a salad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should try mushrooms!. Or some salad, and if you hate veggies try a steak, or ham, turkey, Canadian bacon, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
