Question: Can i put crabs in an ice chest full of ice and cook them the next day!. will they still be good to cook!.!?
Answers:
Yes!. Icing crustaceans creates a lethargy in the animals, slowing their metabolic rate!. Don't completely shut the ice chest though, as you will not allow airflow, and they'll suffocate!. Even a quarter of an inch opening is sufficient!. Just be sure before you cook them that they have some small movement, assuring that they are indeed still alive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Keep them on ice not submerged though!. You might want to try putting a bunch of wet newspapers between the crabs and the ice!.
Do not use the dry ice!. As it evaporates the gas that is the dry ice will displace the oxygen and the crabs will suffocate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Crabs need to be alive when cooked!. So as long as they are still alive when you remove them from the ice chest they will be fine!. I used to do the same thing with lobsters and there wasn't a problem!. Try using dry ice in the cooler!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they will be fine mate, try putting a salt water slurry (ice & salt water) in the chest!. keeps them fresher too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes they will be fine as long as tehy are alive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
