Homemade Mincemeat Pie\
1 cup finely chopped lean beef (such as sirloin or round steak)
2 cups finely chopped tart apples
1 cup chopped raisins
1 cup currants
1/2 cup finely chopped citron
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter (or chopped beef suet, if available)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup apple cider
1/2 tablespoon Watkins Ground Cloves
1/2 tablespoon Watkins Cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon Watkins Nutmeg
1/2 cup meat stock
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Pie crust
Cook beef, let cool, and chop finely!. Add remaining ingredients to beef and mix well!. Simmer slowly (low) for 1 hour, stirring occasionally!. Spoon into glass jars, cover and store for at least 1 week before making pies, allowing flavors to mellow!.
Store mincemeat in refrigerator, or process at 10 pounds pressure for 20 minutes!. Makes about 5 cups of mincemeat, enough for 2 pies!.
When making pies, line deep pie plate with crust, fill with mincemeat, and top each pie with 1 tablespoon heavy cream, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon cold butter (chopped into little pieces)!. the berst way to do it is with garlic loads of it to kill the odors and add a nice flavor
fry a finely diced onion in a little oil!.!.!.!.!.abt one medfium sized onion in 2-3 tbsp of oil with 1/2 tspof oregano cook and abt 1/2 tsp of cumin seedsit till the onions gets transparent n soft after that add a good 2-3 tsps of crushed garlic (2-3 cloves) and fry a little only a few seconds so it doesnt brown immediately add 1 tsp ginger paste and the mince meat stir and cook till the mince is cooked through u may add your own variations to this e!.g!.

brown on the hob then cut up onion and carrot if you like add simmer for about 45 Min's reducing fluid in it add gravy serve with veg you can make it into bolinaise by omitting carrot add mushrooms sliced can chopped tomatoes and good squirt of tomato puree couple of cloves garlic chopped tea spoonful of oregano and simmer for same amount of time serve with pasta and garlic bread hope you enjoy your mealWww@FoodAQ@Com

For most things, brown it by frying in a pan before further use!. You can then drain the excess fat out of it before using it further!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
