First of all, is this a purchased brownie mix, or a homemade one!? If it is homemade, you will likely not get a definitive answer here because we don't know what ingredients are in your mix!. Some use shortening in the dry mix, so all you need to add is eggs and water!. Others do not include shortening or any other type of fat, so you add melted butter or vegetable oil along with the eggs and water!.
Purchased mixes come in either the 8x8 pan size that you indicate, or a 9x13 pan "family size," so you must make sure you use the correct amount oil, eggs, etc!., for the amount of dry mix you have!.
Since you have 5 cups of mix, I am assuming it is a homemade dry mix!. Click on the link in Sources and you'll see these instructions for Basic Brownies:
In a bowl mix 2 1/2 cups brownie mix, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1/3 cup chopped nuts (optional)!. Spread in an 8 x 8 inch square pan (or 9 x 9 inch square pan if you like your brownies thinner)!. Bake at 350° for about 20 minutes, or until set!. Do not overcook!.
Again, this recipe assumes you are using the homemade brownie mix on this web page that does include the shortening!.

And please do not follow the instructions listed by others here and the other times you asked this question!. Five cups of dry mix is way too much for a 8x8 pan of brownies!!
Added 5/5/08: I made a box of brownies (13x9 pan size) last night!. I measured the dry mix and it came out to just a little more than 4 cups!. So for the amount of mix (5 cups) you have, use half of it for your one 8x8 pan of brownies now and save the rest for next time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tell me what brand it is, if you know!. I've been looking online, and there are a lot of variations, depending on the brand!. The most basic recipe I found is: 1/3 cup oil, 2 eggs, and 1/3 cup water!. Mix with large spoon or a spatula for 50-60 strokes only (don't overmix)!. Bake at 350 deg for 28-30 mins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
