Do I have to put the pudding in Amish Friendship bread?!

Question: Do I have to put the pudding in Amish Friendship bread!?
I got a start for Amish Friendship bread, so far so good, but I don't really buy pudding, don't really like pudding, and don't really want all of those unatural things in my bread!.

What is the pudding used for!? And is there something a little more wholesome I could use instead!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

The pudding is used for consistency--it helps the bread remain somewhat dense and moist!. Even if you do not like pudding, you will not taste it in the final product!.

I understand where you are coming from considering the wholesome ingredient aspect--perhaps when you have more starter you could experiment with substitutes--applesauce could potentially help!.

Good luck--have a good week! Peace

PS: Most Amish Friendship breads call for vanilla extract and cinnamon, but adding 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom gives it a nice contrast!.!.!. The loaves also freeze well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Check out the link below!. There are many variations of the reciepe, and so far, I haven't seen one that calls for pudding!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

use some butter or some jelly ;D You are talking about just plain bread right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
