Homemade bbq sauce?!
I'd like to try to make my own as none from the stores are quite right!. Something that will turn out fairly spicy with a peppery kick for chicken and beef!.

Making BBQ is about as easy as it gets, esp!. if you have a crockpot!. I save my squeeze bottles (from ketchup, jelly, or mustard) and put my own in them!. I've made all 3; the first is my fave (obviously) but they are all great!
Sugar Pie's Barbecue Sauce
1 cup cider vinegar
? cup honey
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups ketchup
1 Tbsp!. fresh garlic
? cup onion powder
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 cup yellow mustard
1 Tbsp!. soy sauce
2 tsp hickory smoked salt
? tsp!. cayenne pepper, or to taste
Combine all ingredients in crockpot!. Cook covered on LOW heat for 2 hours!. Uncover and cook 1 more hour!. Stir occasionally!. Store in the refrigerator!.
Yield: 1 quart

Sweet-Hot 'Cue Sauce
2 (10-oz!.) bottles sweet chili sauce
2 cups ketchup
1/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper flakes
Combine sweet chili sauce and remaining ingredients in a saucepan over medium-high heat!. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes!.

1 1/2 cups chopped yellow onion (1 large onion)
1 tablespoon minced garlic (3 cloves)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup tomato paste (10 ounces)
1 cup cider vinegar
1 cup honey
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 cup Dijon mustard
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
In a large saucepan on low heat, saute the onions and garlic with the vegetable oil for 10 to 15 minutes, until the onions are translucent but not browned!. Add the tomato paste, vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chili powder, cumin, and red pepper flakes!. Simmer uncovered on low heat for 30 minutes!. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator!. Yield: 1? quarts
